So what can you do to help?

You can go cruelty-free with your cosmetic choices and refuse to support companies that continue to use and abuse animals in laboratories! The more people who go cruelty-free the less income and profit these companies get. Hopefully this will make them realize that what they are doing is turning people away from their product and they need to change their game. There are hundreds of companies around the world that are cruelty-free and safe to use. Click here to see my list of recommended cruelty-free brands. If you want a more broader list open this PDF file created by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). When you are shopping for cruelty-free beauty products or household products look at the label on the back where they will usually state "Not Tested On Animals" or there will be a bunny logo or cruelty-free/vegan logo. However, you need to be extremely vigilant if you are serious about fighting against animal testing. Most of these companies probably try not to test on animals but they end up releasing statements like "Not Tested on Animals unless required by law". Avoid any product that says 'unless required by law' because that, in turn means that they do actually test their products on animals only to sell in countries like China, where animal testing is required by law before any product can be sold in the country. You also need to consider that the actual product itself, may not have been tested on animals but the ingredients they used and the process it went through was in fact tested on animals. There are also a very limited amount of companies that are working for regulatory change.

What does "working for regulatory change" mean?

According to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), "working for regulatory change" is a category given to those companies that are open to PETA about their experiments on animals regarding what tests they conduct and why. These companies are aware of the anti-animal testing community and are active in their promotion for developing non-animal testing methods.
