What is animal testing?

An animal test is a scientific procedure which involves innocent live animals that undergo harsh experiments that often cause them tremendous pain and suffering. According to Cruelty Free International, animals that are used in laboratories are intentionally harmed for the sake of beauty and often killed at the end of the experiment.

What happens to the animals in these tests?

  • The animals are Injected with dangerous and damaging substances

  • Their tissue and organs are removed with the intention to cause harm

  • They are forced to inhale harmful toxins and gases

  • They are put through frightening situations that can cause anxiety and depression

  • They are placed in small, confined cages and force fed

  • They are denied their freedom

What animals are used?

Animals that are used in these experiments are often bred for this purpose alone either in the laboratories or in a breeding facility. Many animals are used and abused in laboratories every day for the sake of beauty. The most common animals used include:

  • Rabbits

  • Guinea pigs

  • Hamsters

  • Rats & mice

  • Birds

  • Cats & dogs

  • Farm animals

  • Non-human primates

Are there alternatives to animal testing?

Hell yes! According to Humane Society International, these companies can stop testing on animals right now and can still produce new, safe and cruelty-free products. All they need to do is manufacture it the cruelty-free way! You must be asking why these companies still test on animals if it is not required. These major companies are always looking for new ingredients to put in their products. The ingredient is so new, there is no safety data of it anywhere - therefore they conduct new animal tests.
